Billboard design for SFCN Fiber through Spanish Fork City
I can’t say billboard design is something I ever considered that I would be doing when I started working for Spanish Fork City. I was excited when my direct supervisor asked me to come up with a few billboard designs for SFCN Fiber internet.
The Process
It did take a while for the marketing manager to get back to me with exact dimensions that I would be working with. So I played with the different auto dimestions illustrator provided.
I created a few base designs for my supervisor to approve. He didn’t want the background to be left white. So I added our logo at 20% opacity. I then did a few versions with different colored gradients at his request. I did not think those worked, but I completed them anyway. The fonts and main colors were determined by the cities branding package.
While my supervisor preferred the grey gradient in the top right of the image. I strongly disliked it and the department director agreed with me when I took the final designs to him for the final approval. We ended up removing the logo in the background and the gradient and stayed with a very clean look.
I ended up really enjoying working on this, even though I felt I was underqualified. This project really showed me what people think is 'good' is really subjective.
